Description
The Old Post Office is a building located in Priestweston, Chirbury, which was originally known as the Red Lion Inn. This structure dates back to the late 17th century and has undergone various additions and alterations over the years. It is constructed from limewashed uncoursed limestone rubble and features a graded slate roof.
The building has one storey and an attic, with three late 19th-century casement windows on the ground floor. Above these, there are gabled half-dormers fitted with metal casements. The ground floor also has two boarded doors that alternate with the windows, one of which has a glazed panel inserted. These features are now partially obscured by a late 20th-century brick and glass porch, which is not considered to have special architectural interest. There are external and internal end stacks, both with red brick shafts and toothed capping. Additionally, there is a short range at right angles to the rear on the left, which is likely contemporary to the main building.
The interior has not been inspected but is expected to be of interest.
