Description
The Rigby Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 7.5 metres south of the chancel of the Church of Holy Trinity in Buildwas. It dates from around 1813 and is made of limestone. The tomb is rectangular in shape and features a moulded plinth and capping. It has square corner pilasters adorned with Gothic tracery and incised diamond shapes on the short sides. The inscription on the south side commemorates Thomas Rigby, who died in 1813, while the inscription on the north side was indecipherable at the time of re-survey in 1985.
