Wall And Gatepiers 20 Metres North Of Manor House

This structure is a wall with railings and gatepiers, dating from the 19th century. It is made of brick and ashlar and features three entrances, each flanked by gatepiers. The linking walls are capped by railings that run along the High Street, with a return wall extending back to the Manor House. Together, these elements create an L-shaped enclosure for the front garden of the Manor House.

The gatepiers have chamfered ashlar shafts with blue brick infilling, topped with moulded corniced pyramid caps and moulded chamfered plinths. The stepped walls are constructed of brick set on a chamfered ashlar plinth, finished with ashlar coping. The barbed-head railings, which have a top rail, are mounted on the wall. This structure is included for its group value with the Manor House.
