Description
An 18th-century stable and coach-house, now part of a nursing home and with a kitchen attached, situated on the High Street in Cleobury Mortimer. The building is constructed of brick with storey bands, sitting on a stone plinth. It features an old-tiled roof with brick-coped gables, ball-head finials at the ridge and kneelers, and a moulded wood eaves cornice to the right. A projecting, stepped 19th-century brick gable-end stack is also visible.
The stable block is single-storey with an attic. The front gable contains a 20th-century three-light casement window on the first floor and a 20th-century door to the left. The right return side has 20th-century doors, alongside an 18th-century two-panelled door within a beaded oak door frame. A 19th-century link block partially obscures this return side, connecting it to the Manor House. The left return side features two 20th-century metal casement windows and a three-light casement with a brick segmental arch at ground floor level. Three later tiled gabled dormers, each with a four-light casement, are set into the roof. The rear gable incorporates a 20th-century three-light casement. The rear gable extends to the left, forming a link block to the Manor House, which has a casement and a two-over-two sash window at first floor level, above a three-light casement with a brick segmental arch at ground floor. The interior of the stable block has not been inspected.
