Description
This barn, located approximately 40 meters southeast of Woodhall Farm, likely dates from the 14th or 15th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed with a timber frame and has weatherboarded cladding, while the west gable end was rebuilt in red brick during the mid-19th century. The roof is made of corrugated iron.
The barn features a wide threshing entrance in the second bay from the east and a door with an ogee arch at the north-west corner. Inside, there are closely set vertical posts with long straight tension braces. The roof consists of five unequal bays, with an arch-braced upper cruck truss between the first and second bays from the west. The remaining trusses are a mix of Queen strut construction and tie beams with raking struts that support the principal rafters. Notably, several re-used timbers are present in the framing, including a portion of an inverted cruck blade located by the former threshing entrance on the south side.
