Description

This is a six-bay threshing barn, likely dating from around 1600, with later alterations. The barn is timber-framed and stands on a red brick plinth, with weatherboarding cladding the upper walls. The roof is covered in corrugated asbestos and is hipped on the right-hand side. An aisle and a gabled midstrey, containing opposed double doors, are situated on the north-east side. Extensions to the left, constructed from brick and breezeblock, are not of particular architectural interest.

The interior features chamfered jowled posts with arch braces to tie-beams and an arcade plate. The walls are studded, although partly concealed by cladding. The end walls have been partly reconstructed. The roof is a clasped purlin roof with windbraces. The barn also contains a herringbone brick threshing floor. It represents a particularly good example of its type in the area.
