Description

This mid-to-late 18th-century outbuilding served as a currier’s workshop, located to the rear of number 42. The building is timber-framed with red brick infill on the front and ground floor, and some stone to the rear. It has a plain-tile roof and a brick stack on the front roof slope. The structure is two storeys high with an attic, featuring square-panel timber framing of light scantling. The front elevation contains various openings, including two windows on the first floor, a doorway, and a window opening below. The left gable end has windows in the first floor and attic, while the right gable end has a variety of openings, including a window in the attic. The interior retains evidence of its former use as a currier's workshop, such as a bench, pegs, hanging racks, plank doors, and an original roof with a single tier of purlins. The Aingel and Morgan families were curriers operating from these premises during the 18th century, and the workshop is noted in sale details from 1806.
