Description
Dinham Hall Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel, built around 1792 by Samuel Nash for Richard Payne Knight of Downton Castle. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a hipped slate roof with a brick chimney stack at the rear. It stands three stories tall with a basement and has a three-window range. The windows include 6/6 sash windows beneath combed lintels, with 2-light casements above. The eaves are moulded stone.
The entrance is located to the left and consists of a six-panel door with a fanlight, set in a moulded round-headed case, and is topped with a moulded stone flat hood supported by pilasters. To the right of the entrance are two 6/6 sash windows under combed lintels. The left side of the building has one tier of similar windows.
On the south front, there is a central three-tiered bow window featuring tripartite 3/6: 3/6: 3/6 sashes and a moulded cornice, flanked by tiers of 6/6 sash windows above basement lights that are set under stone segmental arches. The property is enclosed by an ashlar wall with piers that have coping, and there are 20th-century gates and plank double doors at the entrance.
