Description

The buildings at 16, 17, 18, 18A, 19, and 19A Raven Lane are a group of houses dating to the 17th century, with later alterations. They are constructed of brick, with some areas featuring 20th-century vertical tongue and groove weatherboarding to timber framing, and have a Welsh slate roof. Brick stacks are located at the rear. The front elevation is three storeys high, with a cellar, and has a three-window range. It contains early 19th-century 8/8 sash windows in moulded surrounds, and 4/8 sashes above. A central carriageway leads to the rear, with plank double doors under a flat hood supported by fluted pilasters. To the right is a shuttered window, and to the left is an early 20th-century half-glazed panelled door and overlight, also under a flat hood supported by consoles and reeded pilasters. An 8/8 sash window is found to the left of the entry. The buildings have a jetty with a boarded soffit. A rear passage has brick sides, a moulded ceiling beam, a cellar opening, and a 20th-century plank door with a fixed light to the left, along with a 19th-century four-panel door and a two-light casement to the right, both under brick segmental arches. The rear of the passage features an segmental arch with early 19th-century 6/6 and 3/6 sashes above. A further range to the rear, comprising numbers 18, 18A, and 19, features 19th-century plank doors with large overlights containing glazing bars, various window openings, and brick modillion eaves. Brick ridge stacks are present. A further range to the rear, on the left, mirrors the rear range of number 17. Brick lateral stacks are also visible.
