Description

This former cottage, now used as a store, dates back to the late 17th century and is located approximately 10 metres northwest of Donnington House. It features a timber-framed structure with painted brick nogging, which has been partly rebuilt and extended in painted brick, topped with a plain tile roof. The cottage consists of one framed bay and is a single storey high, with an integral brick end stack on the right and a weathervane on the left.

The framing includes square panels, with three extending from the sole-plate to the wall-plate. On the left side, there is a glazing bar sash window, while a small 20th-century casement window is on the right. The entrance is through a boarded door located off-centre to the right. To the right, there is a small outshut with a catslide roof. The left-hand gable end reveals an exposed collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts.

A late 19th-century two-storey brick addition is set back to the right, featuring a dentil brick eaves cornice and two boarded doors on the front. Inside the cottage, there is a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts near the stack, a large open fireplace, and a newel staircase located at the rear of the fireplace. The cottage is included for its group value, while a 20th-century garage adjoining at the northeast corner is not included.
