Description
This is a corn barn located approximately 20 meters north-west of Culmington Farmhouse, dating from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick and a plain tile roof that has a gable on the west side. The barn is L-shaped in plan.
On the west front, there is a single-storey range with two shuttered openings, a wagon entrance with plank doors, and brick ventilation openings. The north front includes another wagon entrance with plank doors, various openings, and brick ventilation openings. There is a wagon shed with stone steps leading to a granary above, along with weatherboarded bays that have a wagon entrance, various lights and openings, and a gabled roof dormer.
Inside, the south bays have been considerably altered and reinforced with steel, and the barn is currently used for grain storage. The original range has been extended to the south in brick during the 18th and 19th centuries.
