Description
Culmington House is a house that was formerly a school, built in the early 18th century with alterations made in the 19th century. The building features a rubble plinth and is constructed of brick, topped with a hipped plain tile roof. There are various chimneys, including single, twin, and triple shafts, which were restored in the late 19th or early 20th century.
The exterior consists of two storeys and a cellar, with a five-window range. The windows are 19th-century cross-windows set under segmental arches, and there are three 19th-century raking dormers. The central entrance is located in a 19th-century porch that has a studded plank door and sidelights, flanked by pairs of 19th-century cross-windows. A storey band runs along the building.
On the left side, there is late 19th-century fenestration and a late 19th-century wing. This side has a similar entrance, blocked openings, and a returned storey band. The right side features a 19th-century light above paired cross-windows, a storey band, blocked openings, and a late 19th-century wing. The interior has not been inspected.
