Description

Orchard House is an early 19th-century house located in Lower Hayton. It is constructed of brick, with a Welsh slate roof and brick end stacks. The house is three storeys high and has a three-window front. The central window on the first floor is a 6/6 sash, flanked by 8/8 sashes, all set under gauged brick flat arches. The second floor has three 3/6 sashes. There are brick modillion eaves. The central entrance features a 6-panel door with a barred fanlight, set within a gauged brick semi-circular arch on stone springers, and surmounted by a moulded open pediment hood. Flanking the door are two 6/6 sashes, also under gauged brick flat arches. A two-storey lean-to was added in the late 19th century to the right-hand side, featuring a tier of three-light casement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
