Description
The Hunt Memorial is a pedestal tomb located approximately 15 metres north of the Church of Saint Oswald, dated 1826. It is constructed from red sandstone ashlar and is designed in a Neo-classical style. The tomb features a chamfered plinth and corner piers adorned with carved reeded ornament and flaming torches. At the top, there is a triangular pediment with antefixae and a festooned blank medallion in the tympanum on the south side. The inscription reads: "SACRED/TO THE MEMORY OF/ELIZABETH/the Wife of/JEREMIAH HUNT/ OF APLEY-LODGE/near Wellington:/Who died September/13th 1826:/AGED 60 YEARS."
