Description

This is a late 18th-century cottage located on School Bank in Hinstock. It is timber framed with painted brick nogging set on a painted dressed sandstone plinth. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The timber framing is characterised by large square panels, two from the sole plate to the wall plate, with long straight tension braces across two framed bays. The cottage is one storey high with a half-story attic, featuring a pair of gabled eaves dormers containing two-light wooden casements. Integral brick end stacks are also present.

The front facade has two window bays, featuring 19th-century two-light wooden casements. A central boarded door is sheltered by a bracketed gabled porch. Inside, the roof structure includes collar and tie-beam end trusses with queen struts. A later 19th-century and 20th-century brick wing extends from the rear of the property. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
