Description
The John Huntt chest tomb, located about 4 meters southeast of the porch of the Church of St John, was erected in 1609. It features a cyma moulded plinth and cornice, supporting a heavy ledger. On the west end, there is a brass depicting a small figure of John Huntt, accompanied by an inscription that reads: "I know that my redeemer/Lyveth and that I shall rise again at the later day/here lyeth the bodye/of John Huntt of Burford/Mercer who deceased the/15 day of March in the/year of Our Lord 1603/William Huntt and Richard Huntt sons of the sayde John Huntt/made this 1609."
