7/32 The White House and The Smithy with attached 21.3.68 blacksmith's shop (formerly listed as White House and Smithy House)

Pair of labourer's cottages and attached smithy. Mid-C19, central plastered datestone, however, said to be inscribed WM . Roughcast rubblestone walls, slate roof with shared late C19 central 1770 brick ridge stack. 2 storeys; 2 multi-paned mid-C19 metal casements with Gothic glazing. Those to ground floor under cambered heads; entrances to left and right through C19 ledged doors under C20 porches. Both cottages retain massive beams and heavy joists and late C19 cast iron ranges in their ground floor fireplaces. Blacksmith's shop. Attached to right hand end of The Smithy. Probably mid C19. Random limestone rubble slate roof and brick end stack. Entrance through double doors to left, window and hatch to right. Interior retains anvil, 2 forges, pear shaped bellows, 2 vices and other equipment. Still in occasional use.
