Former Stable Block And Coach House Approximately 40 Metres To East Of Shooter'S Hill

The former stable block and coach house, located approximately 40 metres to the east of Shooter's Hill, dates from around 1830. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof. The building stands two storeys high and includes an eaves band and a dentil eaves cornice.

On the stable block side, there is a central octagonal wooden cupola that is covered in lead, featuring depressed arches and an ogee dome topped with a weathervane. The façade consists of three bays with 16-pane glazing bar sash windows that have stone lintels and cills, although the ground-floor sashes have been removed. There is a partly blocked former carriage entrance with a gauged brick depressed arch, stone hinge blocks, and a 20th-century boarded door with an overlight. The stable doors on the far left and right have depressed gauged-brick heads.

To the left is the coach house, which has two pairs of large boarded doors with a continuous wooden lintel and stone hinge blocks, as well as a small segmental-headed panelled door. A two-light window is located on the first floor of the left-hand return front. Inside, stable fittings remain in the left-hand part of the stable block. The building appears to have been constructed in two phases, indicated by a straight joint between the stable block and coach house and the difference in brick colour. The stable block was likely built slightly earlier, creating a symmetrical composition.
