Description
Tilley Lodge is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the early 17th century, with later additions and alterations. The exterior is roughcast, painted black and white to mimic a timber frame, which actually conceals the timber frame beneath. It has a rendered plinth and a machine tile roof. The building features a three-unit baffle-entry plan and is one storey with an attic. On either side of a slightly off-centre gabled porch, there are late 19th-century wooden casements with mullions and transoms. Above the porch, which has a 17th-century outer plank door with decorated strap hinges, are contemporary or 20th-century gabled eaves dormers. A prominent Grinshill stone ridge stack is located directly above the porch, topped with a tall red brick shaft. At the rear, there are 19th-century gabled and parallel additions, with part of the structure projecting to the left. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
