Description
Brook Farm is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early 17th century. The eaves were raised at the front in the late 18th century or early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of roughcast and timber frame, topped with a plain tile roof. It has two storeys and appears to consist of four framed bays.
The framing features a collar and tie beam truss with double-purl in the ends, which is exposed on the right gable end. The left gable end has late 20th century cement rendering that imitates a timber frame. There are four 19th century casement windows directly below the eaves, with one casement to the left of the left entrance on the ground floor and two to the left of the right entrance. The left entrance features a 19th century boarded door with a bracketed gabled hood, while the right entrance has a 20th century glazed door. There are two late 19th century red brick ridge stacks located at the center of the building. Additionally, there is a single storey 19th century stone lean-to on the right gable end.
The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
