Description

Brook Cottage is a farmhouse, later divided into two cottages and now a house, dating from the mid to late 17th century, with subsequent additions and alterations. The building is timber framed with rendered infill and a slate roof. The original layout appears to have been three framed bays, with a contemporary full-height gabled range set at a right angle to the rear. It is two storeys high.

Much of the timber framing has been renewed and is partly concealed by a cement render that imitates the appearance of timber framing, particularly to the gable ends. The front elevation has three square panels from the cill to the wall-plate. The left gable end features a collar and tie beam truss. The front has three windows, which are late 20th-century casements directly below the eaves, and to the left and right of a roughly central 20th-century plank door set beneath a contemporary gabled hood. An internal red brick end stack is located to the left.
