Description

The Colt Memorial, located approximately 7 metres to the east of the chancel of the Church of St Peter, is a chest tomb dated 1810. It is constructed from grey sandstone ashlar and features a reeded plinth. The side panels have a wide incised band, with pairs of flanking paterae and reeded pilaster strips. The end panels are raised ovals, also flanked by reeded pilaster strips, and there is a moulded cornice on the flat top. This memorial commemorates Sir John Colt Bart, who was late of Leominster and died on 24 June 1810.
