Outbuildings Approximately 20 Metres To Rear Of Craven Arms Hotel And Attached Wall

The outbuildings located approximately 20 meters behind the Craven Arms Hotel were built in the early 19th century and later. They consist of stables and store rooms constructed from sandstone rubble and brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The buildings are rectangular in shape, featuring a central three-storey block with a gabled roof, flanked by two-storey wings that have hipped roofs.

The exterior displays scattered windows, with a central carriage entrance that was altered in the 20th century, set under a segmental arch. Above this entrance is a blocked opening and a light to the second floor. The central block features a stone pedimented gable with a moulded band that extends to the eaves, along with a rendered tympanum that connects broad pilasters. The wings have blocked openings beneath brick segmental arches, and the right wing includes 20th-century casements. The right side of the building is finished in painted brick with a 20th-century entrance, while the left side has a 19th-century casement window over another casement beneath a brick segmental arch. The rear of the building has a pedimented central gable, a blocked opening under a brick segmental arch, and a stack.

Inside, the outbuildings retain stable fittings and a broad staircase. There is also an attached wall to the northeast, built in the early 19th century from brick, measuring approximately 4 meters high and 30 meters long. This wall features blind arcading with one arch to the north, which is pierced by an entrance to offices. The outbuildings and wall are important elements of the streetscape.
