ST9970 LONDON ROAD 755-1/5/90 (East side) 08/07/76 Outbuilding approx 20 metres south-east of White Hart Hotel (Formerly Listed as: LONDON ROAD (East side) Outbuilding on south side of White Hart Inn)

GV II

Stables, now store. Late C18 or early C19. Coursed and squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and a slate roof. Single storey and loft. A symmetrical front has a central elliptical-arched carriage entrance with key and imposts, flanking flat-headed doorways, outer 2-light flat-faced stone-mullioned windows with circular ashlar pitching holes above. Boarded doors. Coped gables, the left-hand one with moulded finial base. Right-hand gable has blocked window and lunette over. INTERIOR: details include timber partitions and collar truss roof. A good and complete example of an inn stable of its period.
