Description

SPARKFORD CP HIGH STREET (North-West side) ST62NW 4/158 Outbuilding about 5 m north-east of Sparkford Inn - GV II 0utbuilding. probably former livery stables. C18. Local lias stone cut and squared, Ham stone dressings;hipped double Roman clay tiled roof, half-hipped at south end. Two storeys, 8 bays. Bays 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8 have doorways with Ham stone lintels, and stone dressings to all but outer bay doorways; blocked windows to bays 2, 4 and 6; above, loft doorways bays 3 and 5. On the south-east gable a plain doorway at first floor level, approached by simple stone steps with plain iron handrail; to left a projecting wrot iron bracket for former inn sign. Interior not seen. Important in both streetscape and in the setting of Sparkford Inn (qv) and the cottage immediately north-east (qv).
