Description

Brooklands Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse, dated 1737. It is constructed of local lias stone, cut and squared, with painted stone dressings, and has a double Roman clay tile roof with coped gables. Brick chimney stacks are present. The building is two storeys high and comprises four bays and two bays set at right angles to the road. The windows are mullioned with two lights, and have beaded ashlar surrounds and hood moulds to the lower windows, fitted with iron-framed opening lights and plain glazing. A segmental arched, gabled porch is located between bays two and three, with a boarded door in a heavy frame, and above a stone plaque with a hoodmould and an oval panel inscribed "A/SB/l737". A blocked attic window is visible in the west gable, and there is a lean-to addition on the north side. The interior was not inspected.
