Description

The outbuilding, formerly stables for Great Houghton House, dates from the 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and ashlar, topped with a Welsh slate roof, while the south wing features a tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high and has casement windows with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are three half cylindrical buttresses. The east front once had a wide, three-centred arched central entrance. This structure is included for its group value with the main house.
