Description
The Wellings Memorial is a pedestal tomb located approximately 29 metres north of the north aisle of the Church of St George. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features sunken panels, an entablature with a moulded cornice, and a concave capping that originally supported an urn finial. It commemorates John Wellings, who died in 1839, and Sarah Wellings, who died in 1834. The memorial is badly weathered, especially the capping and finial, which was dislodged at the time of the last survey in October 1984.
