Description
The Forge is a Grade II listed building located on Main Road in Dorrington, Condover. It is a stables and former blacksmith's workshop, which was disused at the time of the survey. The building likely dates from the early 17th century and has undergone later alterations. It features a timber-framed structure set on a brick plinth, with painted brick infill and a machine tile roof. The building has two levels and consists of four framed bays.
The framing includes five wall posts with short straight tension braces reaching to the eaves, and there is irregular panelling, which is probably a later addition, between the posts. The first, second, and third bays from the left have wide double doors, and there are scattered 20th-century fixed-light openings.
Inside, the building has a Queen-post roof supported by large braced tie beams.
