Description

The Barn is a Grade II listed building, likely dating from the mid-18th century, with some alterations. It is constructed from coursed flint with brick dressings, and the west front has been replaced with weatherboarding on timber framing, probably in the 19th century. The roof is covered with tiles. The structure consists of 12 bays with a rear aisle and features opposing cart entries located in the fourth bay from the north. There is a hipped midstrey on the east side and several blocked slit vents, particularly on the right-hand return. The west front includes a brick plinth with weatherboards above, a cart entry with a broad double door in the fourth bay, and strap-hinged board doors, some dating from the 18th or 19th century, to the right and left of the cart entry. There are also two inserted loft doors and small-paned windows, some of which have sliding sashes and bracketed drip boards.

Inside, the barn features gun-stock jowled wall posts, straight braces to the wallplate and arcade plate, long braces to the tie beam, and some curved, raking queen posts to the principal rafters. The roof structure includes staggered butt purlins and old rafters, along with inserted lofts. The carriage arch has a stone threshing floor.
