Description

The Arbour and attached barn is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with some raising in the 18th century and late 20th-century restoration. It features a timber-frame construction with rendered infill on a rendered rubble plinth, topped with a slate and tile roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the main range to the north and a subsidiary range to the east that includes the barn attached to its eastern end.

The main range has external gable-end stacks made of rubble, and the entire north gable is constructed of rubble with brick shafts. The west front is two storeys high, while the lower subsidiary range to the left is one storey. There are two windows on the upper floor, with the central window being a timber cross-wing and a 2-light casement to the right. The ground floor features three 2-light casement windows plus one additional window, with the timber cross-wing located to the left. The main entrance is situated on the west front.

In terms of framing, the main range has four square panels high, raised by a narrower panel, while the subsidiary range consists of three square panels high with straight tension braces. The barn, which has three bays, is weatherboarded and has a corrugated iron roof. The central low double doors are complemented by a loft door above, which is accessed through a lean-to dormer.
