Description

Kingsland House is an early 18th-century house that has undergone some restoration in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof. The building has a square plan with integral chimney stacks on the north and south walls.

The entrance front faces east and consists of two storeys with an attic, which is illuminated by three gabled dormers. The corners of the building have rusticated quoins made of ashlar, and there is a moulded and dentilled wooden cornice along with an ashlar band at the ground floor level. The facade has five bays, with the central bay slightly projecting. Each bay contains a boxed glazing bar sash window set under rubbed brick heads that include keystones, while the ground floor windows are similar but lack keystones. The central entrance is framed by a moulded wooden architrave and is topped with a restored shell canopy.

On the left-hand return, or south front, there is a semi-circular bay window that is likely a 19th-century addition. The west front is similar to the east front, except that the two windows on the right side are blind. Inside, the house features a fine staircase with turned balusters and square panelled newels.
