Description

Greycote is a late 17th-century house, altered in the mid-19th century and repaired in the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with roughcast infill and a slate roof. The house has two framed bays aligned east/west, with a gable-end stack to the west, built of rubble and with a brick shaft. The north front features one storey and an attic, with two gabled dormers providing light to the attic space. On the ground floor are three windows: a 2-light casement, a single-light casement, and a 3-light casement. The window to the right has a plank weathering. The entrance, to the left of centre, is sheltered by a gabled slate canopy supported by wooden brackets, and has a wooden architrave and a ledged and boarded door. The timber framing is arranged in four square panels high. The gable-end truss incorporates two struts to the collar and trenched purlins. The building is included on the list for its group value.
