Description
The Post Office is a house dating from the 17th century, significantly remodelled in the early 19th century, with later alterations from the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill and a hipped tile roof. A substantial brick stack is located at the rear, with a smaller external brick stack on the left-hand wall.
The south front has two storeys and features a dog-tooth brick cornice. It contains three windows; the central window is blind, while the flanking windows are 3-light casements with segmental heads. A flat canopy, supported by scrolled wooden brackets, covers the central entrance, which is a four-panel door with glazed upper panels. Framing is visible in the side walls, consisting of two square panels raised in the 19th century.
The interior retains exposed chamfered and stopped beams. The building is included on the list for its group value.
