Description

Old House is a 17th-century house that was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, topped with a tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with a cross-wing aligned north to south and another range to the east. There is an internal stack in the southeast corner of the subsidiary range, which has a brick shaft.

The south front of the house is two storeys high, with a gabled cross-wing that projects to the left. The windows on the front are from the 20th century, with three plus two windows on the left side, where two single-light casements flank a three-light casement, and on the right side, there is a pair of two-light casements. The ground floor has three plus one windows, matching the arrangement above, with a two-light casement on the right. The entrance is located in the gable on the right, featuring a gabled tiled canopy supported by plain wooden posts.

The framing consists of four square panels high. The gable of the cross-wing has a jettied tie supported by scroll brackets, and the truss includes three struts to the collar with V-struts in the apex and trenched purlins. Inside, the house has exposed beams that are chamfered and stopped, along with some exposed wall-framing on the first floor, which features straight angle braces.
