Description
Sunny Bank is a house that likely dates back to the 15th century, with extensions added in the 17th century and restoration in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill and a machine-tile roof, arranged in an L-plan with limbs extending to the south-west and north-west. The north-west wing consists of two short bays with a cruck truss, while the other limb has three bays. There is an axial stack in the center of the north-west wing with a rubble shaft, and a lateral stack on the north-west wall of the other range with a brick shaft.
The north-east front has a gabled main range to the left, which is two storeys high and features a 2-light 20th-century casement window on each floor. To the right, there is a one-storey range with an attic that is lit by a gabled dormer. The ground floor has two 2-light 20th-century casement windows. The framing includes three square panels high on the short wing, while the other range has four square panels high with straight angle braces. The gable-end truss features three struts to the collar, V-struts in the apex, and trenched purlins.
