Description

The bridge over the River Lugg, located at SO 559389, is a road bridge that has been converted into a footbridge. It likely dates from the 17th century and was altered and raised around 1737, with some minor changes made in the late 19th century. The structure features sandstone ashlar piers and cutwaters, with later brick rebuilding. It consists of three spans across the River Lugg, including a central higher arch that is slightly pointed, flanked by two lower semi-circular-headed arches. This bridge is a notable remnant of a former roadway that connected Hampton Bishop village to the now-demolished manor of Old Longworth in Lugwardine.
