Description

Pentilo is a house dating from the 17th century. Originally a house of two timber-framed bays with an adjoining barn, it has been converted into a dwelling. The building is timber-framed, with some wattle-and-daub and 20th-century infill, a sandstone plinth, and later additions in brick. The roof is thatched, with a half-hip to the west. A 20th-century addition extends to the rear (south) and a 20th-century lean-to porch has been added to the north entrance, with the main entrance now located on the east side.

The south front has four eyebrow dormers featuring 2-light, 20th-century glazing bar casements. A 20th-century lean-to is located to the left, with a bow window, and a blocked window to the right return. To the right of the lean-to are irregularly proportioned 2-light glazing bar casements. A 20th-century door is on the east side, and there is a large external gable-end stack with a bread oven. The timber framing appears largely complete, although it has been renewed in parts, with three square panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate; V-struts are visible in the gable.
