Description

Old Court Cottage is a 17th-century house located on Rectory Road in Hampton Bishop. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill, a sandstone plinth, and a sandstone stack topped with a brick shaft. There are later brick additions and a thatched roof. Originally, it was a two-bay cottage at the east end, which has since been converted with a barn into a single dwelling, now comprising four framed bays. The west gable has an entry, and there is an east gable end stack, with further additions to the northeast. The cottage is single storey with an attic, featuring two eyebrow dormers that have 2-light 20th-century glazing bar casements. There are three similar windows on the ground floor, along with a 20th-century bow window to the right. The east gable end stack bears the date of 1779.
