Description

This is a barn located about 25 yards south-west of Aberhall Farmhouse. It has a date tablet reading "RI/ 1752" and may have origins dating back to the 15th century. The barn is constructed from finely coursed sandstone rubble and features a corrugated iron roof. It has an L-plan layout, with the main range oriented north/south and a projection to the west at the north end.

On the west elevation, there is a gable front to the left, which includes the date tablet in the gable, a square opening, and one vent loop. To the right of the gable, there are full-height two-leaved ledged doors leading to the threshing floor, along with two rows of three vent loops positioned to the right of these doors.

Inside, the barn contains three pairs of cruck blades: one pair on each side of the threshing floor and a third pair adjacent to the south. The outer pairs of cruck blades rise from low in the rubble walling, while the feet of the central pair are truncated, causing them to rise from a higher point in the walling. The northern pair features cruck spurs, while the southern pair has a tie-beam. Please note that Aberhall Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
