Description
This building is a granary, now used as an office and garage, located about 90 yards south-west of Caradoc Court. It dates from the 17th century and has undergone later alterations. The structure is made of squared sandstone with sandstone dressings, topped with a tiled roof and featuring a stone stack. It has five bays arranged in a west-south-west to east-north-east orientation and stands two storeys high.
The west gable includes tallet stairs that rise from the south to a cambered mid-19th century doorway. Centrally located in the gable is a 4-light 17th-century mullioned window with a hoodmould and quarries. The east gable mirrors this with two similar windows, one on each level. The north elevation features a roughly central porch with a blocked segmental arch and hoodmould. The south elevation has three early 20th-century garage entries from the center to the right, while to the left are three cast-iron windows, likely early 20th century, with cambered heads.
Inside, the building has trusses that support three purlins on each side. Each truss features two collars, with the lower collar supported by two posts that are tied back to the principals. Above each lower collar are two raking struts, and each pair of vertical posts has plain cut chamfer-stops.
