Description

Caradoc Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from rock-faced squared sandstone with sandstone dressings, topped with tiled roofs and brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan, with the garden front facing south and a projecting gable front to the east. It stands two storeys high with an attic.

The south elevation features windows arranged in a 1:1 pattern with mullions. The gable front on the right side has a ground floor with a 4-light mullioned and transomed window, a 3-light mullion window with a hoodmould on the first floor, and a 2-light mullion window in the attic. The left range has a 2-light mullioned and transomed window on the ground floor to the left and a 2-light mullion window above a lean-to porch at the junction with the gable front. The porch is timber-framed, featuring five pointed open panels at the front and an entry from the left. The front door within the porch has six panels and a 4-centred head.

Inside, there is a two-flight open newel staircase with helical balusters in a late 17th-century style. The fireplace in the ground floor south-west room is made of brown and white marble and decorated with floral tiles. The room above has a semi-circular headed cast-iron fireplace set in a stone surround with straight-cut chamfer stops. Caradoc Farmhouse is an important part of the farm complex located to the west of Caradoc Court, for which it served as the home farm. It is included for its group value.
