Description

This is a house, now a shop, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The front is painted brick with a timber frame, and has a turnerized slate roof that is gabled and extends to the rear on the left side. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window arrangement. The windows are 8/8 sashes in moulded frames, with stone sills and brick segmental arches above. A 20th-century shop front is present, with a brick band above. The rear elevation has a half-glazed, two-panel door on the left side, along with various 19th- and 20th-century sashes and casements, and brick eaves with modillions.

Inside, a late 17th/early 18th-century staircase features turned balusters and square newels. There’s also a later 18th-century dogleg staircase with a moulded rail and string, and turned balusters. The second floor reveals exposed purlins. The first floor has exposed 17th-century timber-framing and chamfered ceiling beams, while the ground floor has chamfered ceiling beams.
