Description

The Stagecoach and Snippets Salon is an inn that has been converted into a restaurant and hairdresser's. It features an early 19th-century front but has a core that dates back to the early 17th century. The building is constructed with roughcast, timber-frame, and brick, topped with old plain tiles and a small gable on the right side, along with a brick stack at the rear. It stands two stories tall with a cellar and has a five-window range. The windows include 19th-century casements and a 6/6 sash window to the right, all framed with simple architraves. The entrance, located to the right, has a 20th-century half-glazed studded door. To the right of the entrance is a 20th-century 4/8 sash window, and to the left are two 4/8 sashes, along with a passage to the rear and another 4/8 sash window, all featuring simple hoods and architraves. On the left side, the building reveals early 17th-century box framing, with the front roof pitch raised on a massive purlin. The passage to the rear showcases a chamfered ceiling beam and box framing, along with 20th-century windows. The rear of the building displays additional box framing. Inside, there is a 20th-century staircase. The first floor features exposed 16th-century timber framing with stop-chamfered ceiling beams. The ground floor has moulded and chamfered ceiling beams and a corner stack, while the cellar includes a chamfered ceiling beam, a corner stack base, and is stone-lined.
