Description

Elizabeth Place consists of a row of houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from brick with a stone plinth and feature a hipped slate roof, along with two central brick stacks at the front and rear. The houses have a four-unit plan, are three storeys high, and include a cellar. The façade has a four-window range with 8/8 sash windows set under brick segmental arches, arranged in projecting window bays. A painted stone storey band runs between the floors, and the eaves are adorned with brick modillions.

Each house has two pairs of matching doors with fielded panels in grooved cases, topped with double overlights and set beneath brick segmental arches. The doors are flanked by additional 8/8 sash windows under similar arches.

Inside, No. 1 features a dogleg staircase with stick balusters leading to the second floor, which has two four-panel doors. The first floor contains three four-panel doors and two fire surrounds, while the cellar is stone-lined. No. 3 also has a dogleg staircase with stick balusters, leading to a second floor with 19th-century fire surrounds, a wall cupboard, and three four-panel doors. The first floor has two four-panel doors with architraves and fire surrounds, and the ground floor includes a half-glazed panelled door and a four-panel door, with a stone-lined cellar.

No. 5 features a similar dogleg staircase with stick balusters, leading to a second floor with two four-panel doors and a wall cupboard with a plank door. The first floor has two four-panel doors with architraves and a fire surround, while the ground floor contains a wall cupboard and a stone-lined cellar.

No. 7 has a dogleg staircase with stick balusters, leading to a second floor with two four-panel doors and two simple fireplaces. The first floor has three four-panel doors and a fireplace, while the ground floor includes three four-panel doors, one of which is part-glazed, and an early 20th-century fire surround. The cellar in this house is brick-lined.
