Description
Eignbrook House is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a 20th-century asbestos tile roof with a brick stack at the rear. The building stands two storeys high and has a three-window range, with 6/6 sash windows set in moulded cases beneath brick segmental arches. The eaves are adorned with moulded wood modillion, and there is a blocked roof-light.
The central entrance consists of a three-panel door in a moulded frame, topped with a moulded flat hood. This entrance is flanked by altered lights; to the left is a part-blocked 6/6 sash window, and to the right is a part-blocked cross-window with a pegged frame, with a storey band above. The left side of the building features a 20th-century shop front made of stucco, with a 6/6 sash window above it. At the rear, there is a blocked doorway located left of centre, with four 2/2 sash windows above.
Inside, there is a 20th-century concrete flight of stairs leading to the first floor, and a mutilated early 18th-century open well staircase with turned balusters leading to the second floor. The second floor has an exposed roof frame, two plank doors, a panelled door, and a 19th-century fireplace located in the corner stack. The first floor includes a two-panel door with H hinges, additional two-panel doors, a four-panel door, and an 18th-century bolection moulded fireplace with an overmantel and cupboards.
