Description

This is a pair of early 19th-century houses, now converted into flats, located on Edgar Street, Hereford. They are built of brick with a hipped slate roof and have four chimney stacks. The houses are arranged symmetrically over three storeys and feature a six-window front. The windows are 1/1 sash windows with painted sills and stone reveals, set within segmental arches. The eaves are detailed with brick modillions. The entrances, centrally located on the left and right sides, have half-glazed doors with fanlights and moulded porticos supported by fluted columns. Flanking the entrances are three further 1/1 sash windows with similar detailing.

Inside No. 53, Flat 1 on the ground floor contains a ceiling cornice, a 19th-century fireplace, panelled window risers and architraves, six-panel doors, and two wall cupboards with two-panel doors. The cellar is brick-lined and accessed by a plank door.
