Description
The cider mill, granary, and hop kiln adjoining Broadfield Court to the east are 17th-century structures with mid-19th century alterations and late 20th-century restoration. The buildings are part timber-framed with brick infill on a tall sandstone rubble base, and part sandstone rubble, topped with a plain tiled roof. They form a four-bay range aligned east to west, connected to Broadfield Court at the western end, and consist of two levels. The main south elevation features one square window at ground floor level, a large rectangular window, and a loft door at the upper level, along with two entrances that have ledged and battened doors. External sandstone steps are located next to a 19th-century addition on the north elevation.
Inside, a complete cider mill and cider press are preserved and still in working order. The hop kiln, which now serves as a wine store, is located to the southeast. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with a pyramidal slate roof and has a square plan with two levels. There is a rectangular light on the ground floor of the south elevation and additional lights on the upper levels of the side elevations, although the west side is blocked.
