Description

STOKE PRIOR CP AND SO 55 SW STOKE PRIOR (DET) CP 5/98 Cider mill and granary about 5 yards north- west of Wickton Court GV II Cider mill and granary, now partly used as workshops. Probably late C18 with late C20 alterations. Sandstone rubble and timber-framed with rendered infill and some weatherboarding; corrugated metal roof. Six bays aligned north-east/ south-west. Two and three levels. Framing: one row of rectangular panels visible at eaves level to north-east. Main south-east elevation: on the ground floor is a large opening with a timber lintel, a small 2-light window and a 3-light C20 casement. On the first floor are four 2-light C20 windows (one has pointed lights), a C20 pointed window with Y-tracery, a tripartite sash window with a central 9-pane sash and a large 2-light window. There are also two loft doors, one approached by the original rubble steps, the other by C20 timber steps. There are three doorways, two with half-glazed C20 doors and one with a left side light. A lean-to outshut adjoins the north-east elevation. Interior: roof has open upper cruck trusses. There is a cider mill and part of a cider press at the south-western end of the building.
