Description
The Morgan Monument is a headstone located about 10 yards south of the southeast corner of the chancel of the Church of St Faith. It dates from the early 19th century and commemorates baby twins, Walter and Margaret Morgan, who died in 1826. The monument is made of sandstone and features a shaped top with light relief carvings, including two oval memorial tablets below central text, which is topped by two archaic putti. The finely incised lettering stands out against the execution of the figures. This monument is part of a notable group in the churchyard south of the Church of St Faith and is recognized as a late example of local vernacular craftsmanship.
